About the Manhattan Track Club The Manhattan Track Club is a group designed to promote middle and long distance running at a National Level. It is our belief that quality competition can occur outside of Palo Alto and that through group training one can accomplish a high level of running even while working a full time job. We have several focused goals within the club. The first is to host elite Track and Cross Country meets in the New York area. It is our vision to create a Van Cortlandt Cross Country race hopefully in conjunction with other cross country races in the Northeast during the fall. Additionally, we intend on hosting an elite Track meet beginning in the summer of 2005 full on with rabbits, prize money and time bonuses, with the focus on middle distance running (800-5000). It is our goal to not only foster quality races but to promote fierce competition and rivalries on the East Coast as well. In addition to our desire to become the premier location and host of cross country and track meets in the North East, we also have a desire to build a stable of athletes who can eventually qualify for USATF Nationals. It is our belief that NYC is a great place to be for someone who is both a professional and an athlete, and we are committed to guiding those who want to improve their times yet have other interests and goals outside of middle and long distance running. One way we envision doing this is by simply organizing training runs 2-4 times a week. Another way is to build a team atmosphere where our goals will be focused around helping one another to achieve greatness on an individual level and on a team level (i.e. in cross country, relays, etc). Most importantly, however, is the commitment and drive of our athletes. We are out to have fun, but we are also out to work harder than most to achieve our running goals.
